Our ballet-based program emphasizes an appreciation of movement, musicality, self-discipline, and personal growth. Students first take the required ballet class and then can also enroll in Jazz. Our Junior Program follows the Royal Academy of Dance syllabi ensuring correct technique and discipline are established at a young age. Our Academy focuses on the development of imagination within the child. Through our enthusiastic teaching approach, the use of props, and dynamic music selections, each child develops a lifelong love of the arts.
The Central Dance Academy’s philosophy is to assist all dancers in reaching their fullest potential through the high caliber instruction in a professional and positive environment. We recognize the critical role instructors play in the development of the dancer and therefore insist our faculty consistently display personal standards that project a favorable image of their discipline, their teaching profession, & the Academy. Our instructors for our Junior Program are enthusiastic, caring, and hope to foster a relationship with each young dancer.
All students in our Junior classes participate in our highly anticipated year-end Shows. Each dancer performs twice in a stunning costume on stage at the Michael J. Fox Theatre. Our 2020 year-end Show was done virtually due to Covid-19 regulations, however, for our 45th Annual “Evening of Dance” planned for June 2021, we hope to once again perform on stage.
During the current global pandemic, space is very limited as class sizes will remain small to ensure proper physical distancing and hygiene occurs in every class.

It is unmistaken that quality training is the basis for strong dancers. This has always and will continue to be the goal of the Central Dance Academy, however, in order to achieve more in dance, an increase in the number of hours per week is crucial. We see this structure be successful in many other Lower Mainland studios who have offered half-day training programs for many years.
While this may not be an option for all families, there is a desire by some to pursue dance even further and for those dancers, the Central Dance Academy is proud to offer our Pre-Professional Program again for the 2020/21 season. We are thrilled to offer our students a route to achieve their goals while they build a solid academic foundation coupled with the skills to pursue a professional career in dance. We are excited to offer a half-day training program on our “side” of the bridges, specifically designed for residents of Delta, Surrey, and Langley.
THE BENEFITS
More Hours The most obvious benefit is by dancing more, improvement can be achieved at a faster rate. With quality instruction and feedback, dancers progress quicker. Artistry and technique as well as a deeper personal connection to dance is established sooner.
Better Balance Training more in the daytime allows the dancer to achieve more quality training hours, leaving more family/social time in the evenings and weekends.
Positive People By surrounding themselves with like-minded people, the dancer belongs to a distinct community and develops life long friendships with dancers who have common healthy emotional, physical, academic, and professional goals. This encourages healthy lifestyles and establishes healthy behaviors in the pivotal developmental years of adolescence.
Individual Approach
A more individualized approach develops that directly monitors the areas of weakness and pinpoints ways to improve in those areas for each dancer and their specific goals. Dancers will play a more active role in their training, giving them more ownership of their outcomes.
Further Opportunities Individualized planning for the future is an integral part of accomplishing goals. Planning will include international competitions (YAGP, World Ballet Competition, the Genée International, Prix de Lausanne, etc.), Examinations, masterclasses, summer schools, and grad planning. Dancers will have the opportunity to research and understand what is required to take their dancing to the next level and achieve their goals.
Passion, Growth & Fulfillment
Guest instructors and choreographers are planned on a regular basis, at least one guest instructor per month. Dancers are introduced to new syllabi, dance methods, choreography, and the history of dance. Dancers may also access the studio in the morning if needed, giving them a safe place to study before classes begin. All Pre-Professional students will also have the opportunity to compete in a solo(s) or duo depending on their training progress.
SPECIFICATION OF PROGRAM
Committing to a minimum of 20 training hours, while still excelling in academics and maintaining a “normal” home life is challenging. This specialized program offers a streamlined approach to training and academics. The Program is tailored to students who are considering a profession in dance, who have a passion for dance, and/or for families that want to create a better balance in their lives.
ACADEMICS
Central Dance Academy holds academics as a top priority. Completion of Secondary School requirements, as well as options for future endeavors for college or university, is imperative.
This can be achieved through a few different avenues including online school or a blend of in-person and online classes which is arranged with the help of your Secondary School.
The goal of the program is to graduate with viable options in both dance and academics. Therefore dancers are required to maintain their academic GPA (or equivalent) to remain in the program.
